Nigeria’s sprint hurdling sensation, Tobi Amusan, will compete from lane two at this weekend’s Xiamen Diamond League after World Athletics released the official lane assignments for the highly anticipated women’s 100 metres hurdles event.

Amusan, the reigning world record holder in the event, heads into the meeting in impressive form following a strong run of performances on the international circuit.

The Nigerian star recently clinched gold at the African Athletics Championships before following it up with a silver medal finish at the Shanghai Diamond League last weekend, reaffirming her status as one of the leading contenders in women’s sprint hurdles this season.

The Xiamen meet is expected to provide another stern test for Amusan as she lines up against a stacked field featuring some of the fastest hurdlers in the world.

American hurdler Masai Russell has been assigned lane one, while Devynne Charlton will race from lane three.

Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji takes lane four, with Tonea Marshall positioned in lane five.

Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent occupies lane six, while compatriot Danielle Williams will run from lane seven.

Another Jamaican athlete, Megan Simmonds, is drawn in lane eight, while Chinese athletes Wu Yanni and Liu Jingyang will compete from lanes nine and 10, respectively.

The depth of the field has heightened expectations for what is already shaping up to be one of the standout races of the competition.

For Amusan, the Xiamen Diamond League represents another crucial step in her preparations for a demanding international campaign as she continues her quest for major titles and consistent podium finishes in 2026.

The Nigerian hurdler has remained one of Africa’s biggest athletics exports in recent years, regularly competing against the world’s elite and maintaining remarkable consistency at the highest level.

Her recent performances have also boosted confidence among Nigerian athletics followers, who will once again be looking to her for another strong showing in Xiamen.

With several world-class athletes sharing the track, the women’s 100m hurdles is expected to deliver fireworks when the starter’s gun goes off this weekend.
