The Youth Party has held its ward and local government area (LGA) congresses nationwide, describing the process as peaceful, transparent, and free of violence.
In a statement issued in Lagos by its spokesperson, Solomon Oyekunle, the party revealed that members participated in the congresses held simultaneously in 26 states, including Borno State, Abia State, Oyo State, Imo State, and Kogi State, among others, to elect ward and LGA leaders.
According to the statement, the congresses were well-organised and competitive, with members freely voting to select leaders who will oversee the party’s grassroots structures.
The party noted that the process was conducted without violence, intimidation, or candidate imposition, emphasising that the exercise reflected its commitment to internal democracy and credible party management.
It added that leadership positions within the party are decided through members’ votes rather than political patronage or financial influence.
The statement further explained that the successful completion of the ward and LGA congresses marks a significant step towards the upcoming state congresses and national convention, as preparations ramp up ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also encouraged more Nigerians to join its political movement, maintaining that the congresses proved that political engagement can be peaceful, inclusive, and transparent.
The Youth Party reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening its structures nationwide in readiness for future electoral activities.
