Three governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State have withdrawn from the race in support of Ahmed Galadima Aminu ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for this Thursday.

The aspirants, Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Thul, announced their decisions separately, citing party unity and the need to strengthen the APC ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

Engr. Abubakar, while announcing his withdrawal, described the move as necessary for the progress and cohesion of the party.

He urged his supporters across Adamawa State to rally behind Galadima and give him the support needed to succeed.

Abubakar also pledged N200 million and all his campaign offices to support Galadima’s campaign structure ahead of the primary and subsequent political activities.

In a similar development, Comrade Mustapha Salihu stepped down from the governorship contest, saying his decision was taken in the interest of unity within the APC.

Salihu, who subsequently declared his intention to contest the Adamawa Central Senatorial seat, stressed that the stability and success of the APC should take precedence over individual ambition.

Reacting during a thank-you visit on Wednesday evening, Galadima commended Salihu for what he described as his selflessness and leadership qualities.

He pledged to work closely with him in advancing the interests of Adamawa State and wished him success in his bid for the Adamawa Central Senatorial seat.

Also, withdrawing from the race, Ibrahim Bello Thul said his decision was driven by sportsmanship and the desire to support a candidate capable of uniting party members.

According to Thul, Galadima remained “a unifying figure” with the capacity to bring together party faithful and advance the collective interests of the APC in Adamawa State.

The wave of endorsements and withdrawals has further strengthened Galadima’s position ahead of the APC governorship primary, with political observers describing the development as a sign of growing confidence in his candidature.
