Ranchers Bees have moved swiftly to secure one of their most valuable assets, announcing a two-year contract extension for commanding defender Sulaiman Umar Gamagira that will keep him at the Kaduna-based club through the 2028 season.
The club confirmed the deal in a statement ending weeks of speculation surrounding the centre-back’s future following a stellar campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Gamagira emerged as a standout performer for the Bees during the 2025–26 season, playing an instrumental role in the team’s long-awaited promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
His consistency, aerial dominance, and leadership at the back were widely cited as key factors in the club’s successful push for top-flight football.
The 23-year-old also delivered commanding displays during the NNL Super Four playoff tournament, where Ranchers Bees secured third place as second runners-up.
That performance not only underscored his growing reputation but also earned him a maiden call-up to Nigeria’s under-20 side, the Flying Eagles, for the WAFU B championship.
With the NPFL campaign on the horizon, retaining Gamagira is seen as a major statement of intent by the Bees’ technical crew. The new deal reflects the club’s belief that the young defender can be the cornerstone of their defence as they prepare to compete against Nigeria’s elite.
Speaking on the extension, a club insider described Gamagira as “indispensable” to the team’s project, adding that his desire to stay was pivotal in reaching an agreement swiftly. Fans have also welcomed the news, viewing it as a sign of stability ahead of the step up in competition.
For Gamagira, the next two years offer a platform to establish himself as a top-flight defender and potentially attract further national team recognition.
With his trajectory firmly upward, Ranchers Bees will hope his continued presence translates into a strong NPFL survival bid.
