Former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen will battle for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket tomorrow in the party’s presidential primary.

The three aspirants are seeking to emerge as the ADC candidate in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

It was gathered that the ADC leadership settled for an open contest after efforts to arrive at a consensus candidate among the leading contenders failed to yield results.

Meanwhile, the party has concluded the screening of aspirants seeking tickets for governorship and National Assembly elections across the country, its national publicity secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed yesterday.

In a breakdown of the figures, the party cleared a total of 662 aspirants for the National Assembly primaries comprising 109 for Senate aspirants and 513 for House of Representatives hopefuls.

Governorship elections will not take place in eight states operating on off-cycle arrangements. The affected states are Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Anambra, Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi.
