All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant, Henry Ikoh and House of Representatives aspirant for Aro/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Onyeije Kalu, have rejected the results of the primaries for the 2027 general elections in Abia State.
In statement yesterday in Umuahia, the state capital, the director general of Ikoh’s Campaign Organisation, Ikedi Ezekwesiri, rejected the declaration of Eric Opah as winner of the primary.
It described the announcement as “strange, unacceptable, provocative and inconsistent with the established consensus arrangement reached by the majority of the party’s State Working Committee.”
The statement signed by the former member of the state House of Assembly was titled: “The Sham Called Abia APC Governorship Primary Election and the Purported Results Announced Cannot Stand.”
Alleging foul play in the declaration, the organisation claimed Ikoh, a former minister of state for science and technology, remained the popular choice of party members across the state.
Reacting to the declaration of Ikenna Ukwa as the winner of the primary, Kalu said the results from both Arochukwu and Ohafia local government areas showed that he won the election.
He further said he secured victory in eight out of the 11 wards in Arochukwu LGA and seven out of the 11 wards in Ohafia LGA, giving him a total of 15 out of the 22 wards in the federal constituency.
He aspirant thanked the people of the two local government areas for their support, trust and confidence throughout the primary election process.
