Nigerian record producer and singer Osabuohien Osaretin, popularly known as ‘Sarz’, has revealed that ego once affected his ability to collaborate effectively during the early stages of his career in the music industry.

In an interview with ‘The Fadar’, he said he was short-tempered and eager to prove himself when he began making music, believing he was better than many of his peers. He said his mindset later changed as he realised he could still learn from others, including younger talents in the industry.

Sarz said, “When I started making music, I was very hot-headed. I really wanted to impress everybody. I just thought I was the best thing to exist in music.

“But now I understand that I don’t know it all. I’m always willing to learn from anyone—even someone who just started yesterday.”

While Sarz is widely known for producing several hit songs in Afrobeats, he has worked with top Nigerian and international artistes over the years. His remarks have since sparked discussions among many fans and aspiring creatives about the challenges they face while balancing confidence with humility in competitive industries.
