Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Muslim faithful in Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
Governor Alia urged the Muslim Ummah to uphold the virtues of love, sacrifice, tolerance, and unity, noting that these values are essential for fostering peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in the state and the nation.
He said the lessons of sacrifice, justice, fairness, equity, and peaceful coexistence that this season represents should continue to guide our collective actions for the greater good of the country.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, yesterday, Alia emphasised the need for mutual respect among adherents of all faiths and called on Muslims to use the occasion for sober reflection and to offer prayers for enduring peace, unity, and progress in Benue State and Nigeria.
Governor Alia further solicited sustained prayers and support for the president and governments at all levels in the discharge of their mandates to the people.
In a related statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, governor Alia described Eid al-Adha festival as a blessed and glorious festival through which Muslims worship God and show complete dedication to Him.
Rejoicing with the entire Muslim ummah on the occasion, the governor called for more support for the government in the state and Nigeria, soliciting for more prayers for all leaders.
The governor appreciated Muslims in the state for their unrelenting support for his administration, stating that the peaceful co-existence of people of different faiths in the state remains a source of pride and a tribute to their shared values of tolerance, respect, and unity.
Alia assured that his administration will continue to put the interests and wellbeing of everyone living in the state first, promising accelerated and sustainable development for his people.
