Kogi State governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has appealed to the people of the state to embrace sacrifice, peace, unity and compassion for the underprivileged as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Adha.
Governor Ododo made the call while speaking with journalists after observing the two Rakat Eid prayers at the Okene Eid Praying Ground in Kogi State.
The governor noted that the significance of Eid-el-Adha goes beyond festivities, stressing that the celebration promotes the virtues of love, compassion, selflessness, and obedience to God.
According to him, “Eid-el-Adha teaches sacrifice, love, peace, and care for one another. I urge the good people of Kogi State to continue supporting the needy and to pray for our nation. Let us also pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all our leaders for wisdom and divine guidance.”
Governor Ododo also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across the state.
Speaking on the security situation in Kogi State, the governor described security as a continuous responsibility that requires collective effort from government, security agencies, and the people.
“Security is a continuous task, and we will not relent in ensuring the safety of lives and property in our state. I commend Mr. President, the security agencies, and the good people of Kogi State for their support and the credible intelligence they provide at all times,” he said.
He added that his administration would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and stability across the state.
“By the special grace of God, we will continue to work together to keep Kogi safe and secure,” the governor assured.
Governor Ododo also addressed growing public discussions surrounding the widespread rebranding and renewed image campaign being witnessed across the state under his administration.
He explained that the initiative is aimed at repositioning Kogi State as a destination for investment, tourism, and economic development.
“There is no magic to it. You dress the way you want to be addressed. The image of our state depends largely on what we say about it,” he noted.
Describing Kogi State as richly endowed with natural and human resources, the governor highlighted the state’s enormous potential in agriculture, solid minerals, culture, and tourism.
“Kogi State is blessed with enormous potential in agriculture, minerals, culture, and tourism. We must project these strengths positively and create an image that will attract investors and development partners,” he stated.
The governor further urged residents to remain vigilant and united in the fight against crime and criminality by cooperating with security agencies and refusing to harbour criminals in their communities.
He also called for renewed hope, unity, and support for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that nation-building requires collective commitment, patriotism, and sacrifice from all citizens.
Governor Ododo thanked Almighty God for sparing the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid-el-Adha celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
