2027: No One Will Use INEC To Rig Elections — Bala Mohammed

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has vowed that the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will not allow anyone to use the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the 2027 general elections in the state.

He also pledged that the political movement would not engage in electoral malpractice, stressing that all political parties would be given a level playing field during the electioneering process.

Mohammed made the remarks on Thursday at the Government House, Bauchi, during the formal declaration of his candidature for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the APM platform.

Addressing supporters and stakeholders, the governor said his decision to align with the APM followed what he described as a collapse of internal stability within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We commend the APM for providing us with a platform to continue pursuing our vision for sustainable development, economic growth, and the overall wellbeing of the people of Bauchi State,” he said.

He said the PDP had become deeply divided by internal crises, making continued association with the party untenable for his political group.

Mohammed described his political movement as people-oriented and committed to the welfare of citizens, insisting that the struggle was driven by resilience and faith in democratic participation.

“Today’s event is far more than a formal declaration of candidates. It represents our resilience, faith in Almighty Allah, and commitment to the development of our state despite the political challenges we have faced,” he said.

The governor said his administration’s development blueprint, “My Bauchi Project,” formed the foundation of the State Perspective Development Plan 2033, developed with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

He said the plan targets broad-based development across key sectors of the economy to harness Bauchi’s potential for sustainable growth.

Mohammed noted that his administration had recorded progress despite challenges such as population growth, climate pressures, infrastructure gaps and economic constraints.

“We are not going back to the era of endless verification exercises, hardship for civil servants, disregard for traditional institutions, and poor management of public resources,” he said.

He thanked the leadership of the APM for accepting him and his supporters, and assured them of his commitment to the party’s electoral success in 2027.

He urged supporters to remain united and avoid internal divisions after party congresses and primaries.

Mohammed also presented Dr. Yakubu Adamu as the APM governorship candidate, describing him as capable of sustaining developmental progress in the state.

He further called on party members to support credible candidates into the State House of Assembly to strengthen legislative backing for development programmes
