The Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as seven years of remarkable transformation and impactful governance in the state, saying the governor has lived up to his promise of delivering progress and prosperity to the people.

The monarch gave the commendation on Friday during the traditional Sallah homage paid to the governor by members of the Gombe Emirate Council at the Government House in Gombe.

He said this year’s visit was particularly symbolic as it coincided with the governor’s seventh anniversary in office, noting that the administration had recorded visible achievements across key sectors, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, environmental management and economic development.

According to the Emir, the governor’s performance was reflected in landmark projects executed across the state, stressing that the administration had demonstrated consistency in delivering on its development commitments.

“You have fulfilled your promise to work for the progress and prosperity of Gombe State,” the Emir said.

He further praised the government’s efforts in strengthening peace and security, particularly the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, which he said had significantly reinforced the state’s security architecture and contributed to Gombe’s status as one of the most peaceful states in the country.

In his response, Governor Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to consolidating the gains recorded over the past seven years, assuring residents that ongoing development efforts would be sustained and expanded for future generations.

He expressed appreciation to the Emir and the traditional institution for their continued support, describing the monarch as a steadfast leader who consistently places the interest of the state above all considerations.

The governor said collaboration with traditional rulers had remained central to maintaining peace, stability and development across Gombe State.

“When we assumed office seven years ago, we committed to transforming Gombe State. Today, the results are evident to all. However, development is a continuous process that requires commitment, vigilance and collective responsibility,” Yahaya said.

He added that despite fiscal constraints, the state possessed strong human and material resources capable of driving greater prosperity if properly harnessed.

Governor Yahaya pledged continued prudent management of resources to improve living standards and position Gombe as a model of good governance in Nigeria.
