US-based Nigerian rapper, Onome Onokohwomo, popularly known as Yung6ix, has weighed in on the ongoing public outrage over the recent abduction of school teachers and students in Oyo State, demanding that the federal government be held accountable for their safe return.

In a video broadcast online, the hip-hop artist stated that the primary responsibility of any elected president is to protect the lives and property of citizens.

According to him, national leadership goes far beyond signing economic policies, borrowing funds, and awarding government contracts, and he stresses that safeguarding the population is a fundamental constitutional duty of the highest office in the land.

The musician stated that if the current administration is unable to secure the immediate release of the kidnapped victims and effectively protect Nigerians from escalating insecurity, citizens have every right to demand the president’s resignation.

“My own take is this: if Tinubu cannot bring back those kids and those teachers, then the Tinubu-Must-Go movement must start.
The job of the president is not the job of a layman. A president is someone who can protect a nation.”

He further criticised the government’s approach to governance, stating that leadership should focus on human security rather than political patronage.

“If you cannot protect our nation, Nigeria, Oga, just leave. It simply means you cannot do the job. The job is not just about borrowing money and allocating contracts to your friends and all of that,”
