Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Emeka Ike, has condemned the alleged release of his voter information from the INEC portal, describing it as a serious breach of privacy.

The actor, who contested for a House of Representatives seat in the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), said he was shocked by the development.

The controversy followed reports that Lere Olayinka shared screenshots online containing Ike’s voter registration details. The information reportedly included his voter identification number, registration records, passport photograph and other personal data.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’, Ike described the incident as unacceptable. He warned that it raised serious concerns about data protection and the ease with which personal information could be accessed and shared.

According to him, the issue goes beyond politics and touches on citizens’ right to privacy.

He said:

“It’s quite shocking, extreme, and it is the height of political rascality for a government officer to access a citizen’s information from the INEC cyber…”

The actor further said he is willing to challenge those responsible for the alleged exposure of his private data. He cautioned that failing to address the issue could send the wrong message to others.
