Some children in Abuja have received educational support as the Gyama Common Good Initiative (GYAMA-CGI) marked Children’s Day by distributing school materials through its Kit2School Initiative.

The programme was carried out in Orozo, Dape and Karmo communities, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and supporting vulnerable families.

GYAMA-CGI, a non-profit organisation focusing on social impact, stated that its mission was rooted in the belief that sustainable change can be achieved through service to others. The organisation’s “common good” approach seeks to deliver measurable and lasting benefits to communities, guided by principles of integrity, collaboration, passion and excellence.

As part of the outreach, volunteers presented children with branded school kits that included backpacks, notebooks, storybooks, pens, pencils, mathematical sets, socks and other learning essentials. The distribution was met with enthusiasm, with many beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the support.

A representative of the organisation, Dr Sylvia Enechukwu, said the project’s alignment with Children’s Day was intended to draw attention to the need for greater investment in the welfare and education of young people.

Bekita noted that the initiative not only helps parents offset the rising cost of school materials but also serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring every child has access to quality education.

The representative added that beneficiaries and teachers welcomed the gesture, describing it as a valuable intervention that will enhance learning and provide much-needed support for pupils preparing for the new academic term.
