Arsenal Close In On Monga As Personal Terms Agreed

Arsenal have moved a step closer to securing the signing of Leicester City’s highly rated young forward Jeremy Monga, with the 16-year-old having already agreed personal terms with the north London club ahead of a proposed summer transfer.

While the player’s representatives and Arsenal have reached an understanding on contract conditions, the two Premier League sides remain in active discussions over a transfer fee.

According to a report from the UK Metro, those negotiations are at an advanced stage, raising the possibility of a deal being finalised in the coming weeks.

Monga, who can operate on either wing, signed a professional contract with Leicester last year. However, that deal only officially comes into effect on July 10, when he turns 17.

That timeline gives the Foxes – who suffered relegation from the Championship this season – the legal standing to demand a compensatory fee for the teenager rather than losing him for a nominal training compensation sum.

The situation has not gone unnoticed elsewhere in the top flight. Chelsea and Manchester United are both understood to have registered their interest in signing Monga this summer, potentially setting up a battle for the winger’s signature if Arsenal fail to agree a fee with Leicester swiftly.
