The Ogun State Police Command has recorded what it described as a major breakthrough in its ongoing investigation following the arrest of two suspects in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode, with preliminary findings linking them to a kidnapping and murder case in the Okada area of Edo State.

This was contained in a press release issued by the Command on June 6, 2026, as a follow-up to an earlier statement released on June 4, 2026, which had announced the initial apprehension of two male suspects by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service and the commencement of investigations into their activities.

According to the Command, the latest development followed sustained intelligence-driven inquiries conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which led to further profiling and identification of the suspects and their alleged roles in a wider criminal network.

The suspects were identified as Gafaru Adamu, male, aged 25, and Muhammed Sanni, male, aged 20. Preliminary findings, the Command stated, revealed that the duo are wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping and murder incident reported in the Okada area of Edo State, where two abducted victims were allegedly killed.

The statement further disclosed that intelligence gathered by the Command indicates that the suspects are allegedly members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the incident under investigation, suggesting a broader criminal network operating beyond Ogun State.

During the course of the investigation, operatives recovered one pair of Police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. The exhibits, according to the Command, have been properly documented and taken into custody to aid further investigation and forensic analysis.

The Command noted that the alleged offences under investigation occurred outside Ogun State. Consequently, in line with established inter-state policing procedures and existing collaboration among State Police Commands, the suspects and all recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which has primary jurisdiction over the matter, for further investigation and other necessary legal processes.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism, diligence, and intelligence-gathering capabilities of the operatives whose swift action led to the identification of the suspects and recovery of critical exhibits.

He reiterated that the Command remains resolute in its determination to ensure that criminal elements do not use Ogun State as a hideout or transit point for unlawful activities.

CP Ojajuni further assured residents that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-led strategies, proactive policing measures, and strengthened inter-state collaboration to enhance public safety and security across the state.

The Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to assist law enforcement agencies in combating crime and criminality.

For emergencies and credible information, the Command advised residents to contact its emergency channels, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line and other emergency numbers provided by the Command.
