The Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) has announced that it will host leading sustainability experts, corporate executives, regulators, policymakers, investors and development finance professionals from across Africa in Lagos on Wednesday.

The FITC stated that the conference, themed “Building a Sustainable Africa: Integrating Environmental Stewardship, Social Impact, and Strong Governance for a Prosperous Future,” is expected to deepen conversations on how Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles are shaping business strategy, investment decisions and public policy across the continent.

Speaking ahead of the event, the managing director and chief executive officer of Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC), Dr Chizor Malize, said sustainability has become central to organisational survival and long-term prosperity.

“Sustainability is no longer a peripheral consideration; it is a strategic imperative for building resilient organisations, thriving communities and prosperous economies.

As Africa navigates increasingly complex environmental, social and governance challenges, the focus must shift from intention to execution,” she said.

She added that the conference will provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of practical solutions to accelerate sustainable transformation across the continent.

According to the statement, discussions will explore environmental stewardship as a driver of business resilience, with emphasis on climate risk management, resource efficiency and sustainable growth strategies. “Other sessions will focus on social investment, including community development, human capital growth and inclusive development initiatives aimed at delivering measurable societal impact.

“Governance will also form a key pillar of the conference, with conversations centred on ethical leadership, transparency, accountability and board oversight as tools for strengthening institutional trust and enabling sustainable economic growth across Africa,’’ the statement read.
