Zack Orji, Other Nollywood Stars Face Backlash After Leading Tinubu Support Rally in Abuja

Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji and several of his colleagues have come under heavy criticism on social media for participating in a solidarity rally for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.

The demonstration was organised by the political movement Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) under the campaign slogan “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” The event followed a community medical outreach programme that provided free healthcare consultations and medications to low-income residents in the federal capital.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Orji, who serves as the Deputy Director General of the movement, praised the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and called on citizens to support the president’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group also used the platform to appeal for stronger measures to end kidnappings across the country.

However, the rally sparked widespread negative reactions online, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). Many users criticised the entertainers for publicly endorsing the administration despite the ongoing economic challenges, high fuel prices, rising inflation, and persistent insecurity in parts of the country.

Some commentators accused the participating celebrities of being out of touch with the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians, while others alleged that personal political interests drove the public endorsement. Additionally, online users expressed concern over Orji’s physical appearance during the march, noting that the veteran actor appeared frail.
