As the 2027 Imo East Senatorial District election gathers momentum, members of the diaspora community have called for a political shift and endorsed the candidacy of former Imo State deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the senatorial seat.

The endorsement was contained in a statement made available to journalists.

The diaspora group said its decision followed extensive consultations and deliberations among members across different countries, adding that it was convinced of Madumere’s leadership capacity, political experience, integrity and commitment to the development of Owerri Zone.

According to the group, Madumere’s record of public service, particularly his tenure as Deputy Governor of Imo State, positions him as a credible and competent candidate to represent the interests of the zone at the National Assembly.

It stated that Owerri Zone deserves quality representation anchored on experience, accessibility, accountability and a clear vision for sustainable development.

The group further argued that Madumere possesses the exposure, competence and grassroots connection required to effectively articulate and defend the interests of the people of Imo East Senatorial District.

The diaspora community therefore called on sons and daughters of Owerri Zone, both at home and abroad, to unite behind his candidacy and work towards ensuring his victory in the 2027 general election.

It added that the endorsement reflects a shared conviction that his representation would bring renewed hope, inclusive development, youth empowerment, infrastructural advancement and effective legislative advocacy for the zone.

“Together, we stand united in our resolve that come 2027, by the special grace of God, His Excellency, Prince Eze Madumere (MFR), the PDP candidate for Imo East Senatorial District, shall be elected to represent Owerri Zone in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement added.
