Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Domingo Michael Adeleke, has died in Geneva, Switzerland, after a brief illness while attending the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference.
Adeleke was part of Nigeria’s delegation to the International Labour Conference when he reportedly fell ill and later passed away despite receiving medical attention.
His death was confirmed by an official of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who described him as a committed trade unionist dedicated to advancing workers’ welfare and labour rights.
The NLC said the labour movement received the news with deep sorrow, noting that Adeleke died while actively participating in the Geneva conference.
A member of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Adeleke served as Chairman of the Lagos State JNC, where he was actively involved in labour advocacy and negotiations on behalf of workers.
The NLC further stated that he remained steadfast throughout his career in promoting decent work, social justice, and the protection of workers’ interests.
