The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced that it has so far screened at least 720 male and female applicants seeking to participate in the State’s mass wedding programme, which aims to facilitate the marriage of no fewer than 3,000 people.

The Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to him, the applicants screened so far were from 24 local government areas across the state, as the verification exercise continued ahead of the planned mass wedding initiative.

He further called on individuals who obtained application forms for the programme from the Hisbah headquarters to report to the SAKA office with their completed forms and medical test results for further screening.

Dr. Abubakar added that dates for the screening of applicants from the remaining local government areas will be announced in due course.

The Kano State Government’s mass wedding initiative was designed to support eligible singles by easing the financial burden associated with marriage while promoting family stability and social welfare across the state.
