Manchester United officially released Brazil midfielder Casemiro and Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia as free agents on Wednesday, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealing that Casemiro is now expected to sign for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
The Dutch left-back, 26, departs Old Trafford after making just 50 appearances across all competitions, with his four-year spell in Manchester chronically disrupted by injuries.
Malacia made only two appearances in his final Premier League season as persistent fitness issues again limited his involvement for the first team.
The Brazilian midfielder, who will represent his country at the ongoing World Cup, ends a four-season stay at Old Trafford with 160 games and 26 goals to his name.
The transfer guru claims there will be no U-turn on Casemiro’s decision to leave, with the veteran enforcer’s next destination already mapped out for some time.
According to Romano, the Brazil international is expected to sign with the Florida-based franchise, where he would line up alongside Lionel Messi in what would be a marquee addition for the Herons.
A deal had been in the final stages for months, and Romano noted that Inter Miami made their first proposal to Casemiro’s camp earlier this year.
The move would begin a new chapter in the 34-year-old’s storied career following his trophy-laden spells at Real Madrid and United.
The pair’s departure comes as part of a wider summer overhaul under the guidance of manager Michael Carrick, with the club’s retained list submitted to the Premier League following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
