Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms are already producing early positive outcomes and laying the foundation for Nigeria’s long-term recovery, despite ongoing economic pressures on citizens.

Yahaya made the remarks in Abuja at the opening of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) Retreat, where he described President Tinubu as a courageous leader who chose to confront Nigeria’s long-standing structural economic challenges through bold policy reforms that previous administrations avoided.

According to him, initial gains from the reforms are becoming visible through improved fiscal discipline, growing investor confidence, and the gradual strengthening of key national institutions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor also called on members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to intensify grassroots mobilisation and public engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need to counter misinformation and better communicate government policies and achievements.

“We must never allow the opposition to define the narrative. Our job is to meet falsehood with facts, despair with data and cynicism with the undeniable evidence of progress,” he said.

Yahaya added that many citizens were yet to fully appreciate the strategic intent behind the administration’s reform agenda, noting that sustained public engagement would be critical to building broader understanding and support.

“Nigeria is in a race against time as the 2027 general election is fast approaching. Mobilisation is the engine that will power our Renewed Hope Agenda to victory and beyond,” he stated.

He explained that the retreat was structured not as a ceremonial gathering, but as a practical platform for political planning, voter engagement, and mobilisation across the country.

Also speaking at the event, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, urged members of the movement to effectively communicate government policies and achievements to Nigerians.

Similarly, the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, emphasised the importance of grassroots mobilisation, noting that political success depends on organisation, structure, and sustained engagement with citizens.

“We must organise to win and not merely hope to win,” Uzodinma said.

He urged participants to take the Renewed Hope message to all 774 local government areas, wards, and polling units, stressing that continuous engagement and feedback from citizens remain vital to linking government policies with everyday realities.

The retreat is expected to produce strategies aimed at strengthening APC structures and boosting public support for the administration’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
