Forum of political parties in Osun State has unfolded plans to organise a peace summit ahead the August 15 governorship election in the state.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, the chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) Dr. Tosin Odeyemi disclosed that the summit was designed to brainstorm on approaches towards having a peaceful electoral process, before, during and after the election and reach a conclusive agreement.

According to him, the summit became imperative especially now that political violence was rearing its ugly head in the state and stakeholders, chairmen of political parties in the state, couldnot afford to fold their arms.

He disclosed that no fewer than twelve registered political parties that includes: All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Action Alliance (AA), among others are participating in the initiative.

“Osun belongs to every one of us regardless of the political party differences and we, as party chairmen, must play our roles of promoting and sustaining a free, fair, credible, transparent, inclusive, and peaceful electoral environment in our dear state.
