The Consulate-General of the Republic of Liberia in Lagos has congratulated the executive commissioner (Operations) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr Louis Odion, on the conferment of a national honour on him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The envoy said the recognition is well deserved and reflective of years of his dedicated public service.
In a congratulatory letter signed by the honorary consul-general of Liberia in Lagos, Mr Dapo Akinosun, the envoy praised Odion’s contributions to journalism, democratic governance and regulatory service in Nigeria.
The envoy said, “This distinguished recognition is richly deserved and reflects your outstanding contributions to journalism, the advancement of democratic values, and your unwavering dedication to public service.”
Akinosun noted Odion’s longstanding influence in Nigeria’s democratic space, saying that over the years, he has earned widespread respect for his principled advocacy, professional excellence, and steadfast commitment to truth and democratic governance.
He added that Odion’s role in the pro-democracy movement and public discourse had left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s political development, describing him as a consistent voice for accountability and informed civic engagement.
“Equally commendable is your continued service within the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, where you have contributed to strengthening consumer protection, promoting ethical business practices, and advancing a fair and competitive marketplace.
“Your work continues to support economic growth, institutional accountability, and public confidence in regulatory governance,” it stated.
Akinosun emphasised that the national honour represents broader recognition of a career dedicated to the public good. “The conferment of this National Honour appropriately recognises a lifetime of service dedicated to improving society, strengthening institutions, and championing the rights and interests of citizens,” he said.
