Chery Automobile has identified Nigeria as a key market with significant potential for the adoption of advanced mobility solutions, citing the country’s large economy and growing demand for innovative transportation technologies.

The company made the assertion during the unveiling of the all-new Chery Tiggo 9 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in Nigeria, where it also announced plans to introduce its next-generation electric vehicle brand, Chery Q, into the market.

Speaking at the event, managing director of Chery Central Africa, Hai Wei, described Nigeria as strategically important to the company’s African expansion plans and a major destination for future investments in sustainable mobility.

“It is my pleasure to be in Nigeria today for the official unveiling of the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV, a vehicle that embodies Chery’s vision for innovation, advanced technology and environmentally responsible mobility,” Wei said.

According to him, Nigeria offers substantial opportunities for adopting advanced mobility solutions due to the size of its economy and evolving transportation needs.

Wei noted that the launch of the Tiggo 9 PHEV marks another milestone in Chery’s commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation, adding that the company would continue investing in Nigeria’s automotive future while delivering world-class products and services to customers.

Also speaking, the sales director of Carloha Nigeria, Joseph Omokhapue, said the Tiggo 9 PHEV combines luxury, safety, performance and sustainability, positioning it as a premium offering for discerning motorists.

“The Tiggo 9 PHEV is more than just a new SUV; it is a statement of innovation. With its sophisticated design, spacious interior, advanced safety technologies, premium comfort features and impressive range, it is designed for families, professionals and business leaders who demand more from their vehicles,” he said.

Omokhapue added that the launch reflects Carloha Nigeria’s commitment to aligning with global automotive trends while responding to the changing preferences of Nigerian consumers.

The marketing director of Carloha Nigeria, Dexter Li, described the vehicle as a representation of the future of intelligent mobility, stressing the company’s focus on delivering smarter, more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions.
