Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has tasked judicial stakeholders to uphold the rule of law and ethical conduct on both the Bar and the Bench.
He highlighted the importance of equitable, just and fair administration of justice as a condition for the survival of democracy in Nigeria.
Adeleke, who was represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, at the 2026 annual national conference of Egbe Amofin Oodua held at Ile Ife, highlighted the challenges facing the democratic process and concluded that its survival can be further enhanced when judicial officials and legal practitioners uphold the ethics of the profession.
He said the issue of judicial transparency has even become more critical in the nation’s electoral and democratic processes, noting that, “judicial interventions in electoral matters must continue to be guided by law, evidence, fairness and constitutional principles.
Also speaking, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, urged legal practitioners to continue to promote justice, fairness, and ethical conduct while fostering stronger bonds among themselves.
He called on the Yoruba lawyers to embrace unity, peace, and professional camaraderie, adding that, as custodians of justice and defenders of the rule of law, they must be ambassadors of peace and harmony in society.
The chairman of Egbe Amofin O’odua, Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), in his remarks, described the Ooni as a unifying force and a respected traditional institution whose influence continues to promote peace, development, and cultural pride across the Yoruba nation and beyond.
