FUOYE Students’ Union Elects New President, Others

Students at Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State under the aegis of Students’ Union Government (SUG) have elected new student leadership with Mr. Ajayi Olusegun emerging as the new President.

The election, which was conducted via online with the collation center at Ado Ekiti serving as Situation Room, saw the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Tajudeen Opoola and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages, SPRIL) serving as observers.

Chairman of Students Electoral Body, Mr. Odelami Moses Ayotunde of History and International Studies, who led other 37 others cutting across all the Faculties, disclosed that 16,366 students were accredited to vote in the exercise.

Mr. Ayotunde, who described the election as credible, free and fair, hinted that “this is the most seamless and credible election that I have seen since I became FUOYE student.”

The new President, Ajayi Olusegun Samuel, from Ikole campus, is a 400-Level student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. He is popularly known as AOS The Unifier, and is also known by a few as Fairsam, a nickname that reflects his generosity, reliability, and commitment to helping others.

“He is a passionate student leader, public speaker, entrepreneur, and advocate for student welfare. Throughout his academic journey, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence.

“Olusegun has held several leadership positions and has actively contributed to initiatives aimed at improving the academic, social, and welfare experiences of students,” Ayotunde remarked.

“The new President’s dedication to service, unity, and student development has earned him the trust and confidence of the student body,” Bolu Fashakin, a 400 Level student of the Political Science Department said.

Other elected leaders were Vice President, Taiwo Victor Oluwadarasimi; General Secretary, Olatunbosun Oluwaferanmi Faith; Assistant General Secretary, Rabiu Azeez Olawale, and Social Director, Okoro Chukwuemeka.

They also included Sports Director, Isaac Ebenezer Ekoyon; Director of Transport, Akere Daniel Oluwamuyiwa; Financial Secretary, Oyelakin Ayodeji Solomon; Treasurer, Shobayo Olatunbosun Olasunkanmi; Public Relations Officer, Oni Olaoluwa Elijah, and Welfare Director, Salami Nimotalai Moyinoluwa.
