First lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called for greater solidarity with refugees and displaced persons across the world, urging collective efforts to support those forced to flee their homes in search of safety, security and hope.

In a message to mark the World Refugee Day yesterday, the first lady said the occasion provided an opportunity to stand with millions of vulnerable people seeking safety, security and hope.

She noted that this year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees,” underscored the need for shared responsibility and compassion towards displaced persons.

“On this World Refugee Day 2026, I stand in solidarity with refugees and displaced persons around the world who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety, security, and hope,” she said.

According to Mrs Tinubu, the theme serves as a reminder of humanity’s shared responsibility to support peaceful solutions to conflicts and ensure that displaced persons have access to the opportunities and resources they need to rebuild their lives.

“This year’s theme, ‘Solidarity with Refugees,’ reminds us of our shared humanity and collective responsibility to be our brothers’ keeper, support peaceful solutions to conflicts, and ensure that displaced persons have access to the opportunities and resources they need to rebuild their lives,” she said.
