A group known as Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide has advised blackmailers to desist from attempting to distract the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), Mr. Umana Okon Umana, as he is focused on realising his vision for the Ministry.
The President of the group, Peter Igbifa, in a statement recently in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said that contrary to the detractors opinion, Mr. Umana had sent youths on training, especially in Information, Communication Technology (ICT), to create a critical mass of entrepreneurs and employable youths since he assumed office.
The president said that the Minister had shown passion and commitment to his job of bringing development to the region and should not be distracted by mischievous individuals.
He said, “Instead of trying to pull him down through baseless, unfounded and false allegations, the Minister deserves the support of stakeholders.
He, however, distanced the group from persons devising dubious means in an attempt to extort the Minister, using the group’s name, and admonished them to have a rethink, saying IYC would never engage in underhand practices.
Igbifa appealed to Mr Umana to remain focused on his task to make positive impact in the region.
He said IYC would support him to succeed.
