The Rivers State Police Command has ordered the immediate investigation of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the command over alleged misconduct following a publication currently circulating on various online platforms.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Blessing Agabe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, said the affected officer concerned has been immediately removed from his position pending the outcome of the investigation.
The statement said the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has expressed deep dismay over the incident and and reiterated that the Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct or abuse of office.
It reads in part, “The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a publication currently circulating on various online platforms alleging misconduct involving a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the Command.
“In response to the allegations and in line with the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism, the officer concerned has been immediately removed from his position pending the outcome of a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Cp Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, expressed his deep dismay over the incident and reiterated that the Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of office or actions capable of undermining public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Commissioner of Police further assured members of the public that the investigation will be conducted diligently, professionally, and without bias.
“The Rivers State Police Command remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and service delivery.
“The Command also appreciates the vigilance of members of the public and encourages citizens to continue reporting incidents of misconduct through appropriate channels.”
