A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe state, Alhaji Ibrahim Gurugusko (Tafidan Tikau) has said widows and married women deserve every assistant they can get from politicians in the society.

Gurugusko, who disclosed this when speaking to journalists in his office, in Potiskum town stated that, the ability to develop others was a mark of leadership, and called on political office holders to go back to their constituencies and make an impact on people’s lives.

He said, “politicians must lend helping hands in their community and other communities around them. The widows, married women and unemployed youths must feel the impact of their leaders. People, who are well-to-do, must help others to grow, which is what we are supposed to do.

“As politicians, the interest of the electorate should always take centre stage and not just disappear, only to come back to the electorate when they need their votes.”

He added that, “It is my belief that for any area to grow, its leaders must be dynamic and visionary, and must be willing to help the people to grow. Some of our politicians marry more women after winning the election,” Gurugusko said.

He said, ” We, either as politicians, appointed officials or wealthy individuals should always strive to accord top priority to the provision of the basic needs for the people.

He pledged his “unwavering commitment” to continue to assist the youth to be educated as well as secure more employment opportunities for them at all levels.
