A new photo of the 10-year-old boy allegedly brutalised by his guardian in Anambra State has sparked another wave of outrage across social media. The heartbreaking image, first shared by Linda Ikeji’s Blog, shows the young survivor recovering after he was rescued last week from the alleged abuse. He is currently in the protective custody of the Anambra State Government while investigations continue.

The case has reignited conversations about child abuse in Nigeria, with many Nigerians demanding justice and stronger protection for vulnerable children.

Sadly, this is far from an isolated incident. According to UNICEF, six in every 10 Nigerian children experience physical, emotional or sexual violence before the age of eighteen, while more than seventy per cent suffer repeated abuse. Yet only a small fraction of victims ever received professional support.

Recent UNICEF reports also show that thousands of grave violations against children are documented annually, underscoring the scale of child protection challenges across the country. As the disturbing images continue to circulate online, many are calling for swift prosecution of offenders and greater vigilance to ensure no child suffers abuse behind closed doors.
