Gombe LGs Receive N566.6bn FAAC Allocations In 27 Years

An analysis by Agora Policy, an independent research organisation, has showed that 11 local government areas (LGAs) in Gombe State received a combined N566.60 billion in allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between May 1999 and February 2026.

The data released by the policy think tank showed that Akko local government area got the highest cumulative allocation of N65.84 billion during the period, while Shongom recorded the lowest with N42.65 billion.

The figures, spanning nearly 27 years, highlight variations in the distribution of federal allocations among the LGAs.

Trailing Akko in total allocations is Yamaltu/Deba with N57.23 billion, closely followed by Gombe at N56.80 billion and Dukku with N54.01 billion.

Other LGAs and their cumulative allocations include: Funakaye, N52.21 billion; Balanga, N50.56 billion; Kwami, N49.11 billion; Billiri, N48.72 billion; Kaltungo, N45.27 billion; and Nafada, N44.21 billion.

Analysts maintained that the FAAC – a statutory body responsible for sharing revenue collected by the federal government – provides an opportunity for citizens to assess the relationship between federal allocations and development outcomes across the critical sectors such as healthcare, education, rural infrastructure and water supply.

Government officials in Gombe State frequently point to the construction and rehabilitation of roads, healthcare facilities, urban renewal projects, investments in education and efforts to improve the business environment as evidence of significant progress.

However, many residents, especially in rural communities across the state, contend that the impact of these investments has not been evenly distributed, citing persistent challenges such as inadequate healthcare services, poor road networks, limited access to clean water, erratic electricity supply and declining agricultural support.
