Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as strategic investments in Nigeria’s security architecture.

He said the President’s support for security agencies had contributed to the reduction of criminal activities across Kogi State.

Governor Ododo made the remarks on Tuesday during a visit to the newly established 21 Battalion Barracks in Anyigba, where he assessed operational facilities and interacted with officers and soldiers stationed at the military formation.

The governor described the establishment of the barracks as a clear indication of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting states in tackling insecurity.

According to him, the military presence has greatly improved security in Kogi East, leading to a noticeable decline in cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, communal clashes and other criminal activities.

Addressing the troops, Governor Ododo commended their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property.

“I am here today to appreciate all the gallant officers who are making sacrifices daily to ensure that our people sleep with their two eyes closed. Since your arrival, the security situation in Kogi East has improved tremendously. Cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities have reduced significantly,” he said.

The Governor stressed that criminal elements have come to realize that Kogi State is no longer conducive to their operations.

“Criminals now know that Kogi State is not a fertile land for them. There is no market for criminality in our state. We will continue to confront them until they have no hiding place,” he added.

Governor Ododo further applauded President Tinubu for providing sustained support to sub-national governments in the fight against insecurity, noting that the Federal Government has continued to strengthen security operations across the country.

According to him, the President has also approved the provision of air support whenever necessary to enhance security operations and combat criminal elements effectively.

“Mr. President has graciously granted approval that whenever we need air support, it will be made available. This demonstrates his commitment to ensuring that security agencies have the resources required to effectively combat criminality,” the Governor said.
