The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, and his wife, Dr Folashade Olukoya, have restated their commitments to youth development, declaring that their vision is to help young people discover and fulfil their God-given destinies.
Dr Olukoya stated this at the finals of the Dr and Dr (Mrs) Daniel Kolawole Olukoya Choral and Solo Competition for Secondary Schools, held at MFM Grace Hall, Onike, Lagos. The event drew students, music teachers, parents, and government officials.
His words, “Our lifelong passion, vision and that of my wife, is to support initiatives that help young people discover, develop and fulfil their God-given destinies.”
Olukoya said. “MFM is interested and committed to evangelising youths for Christ, as well as anything that will make youths find God.”
At the competition, seven soloists each received full-tuition scholarships to any public Nigerian university of their choice, irrespective of course.
For the choral category, the first to third place went home with Cash gifts and keyboards, while fourth to sixth-place schools went home with cash prizes. Halifield Schools, Maryland, emerged overall winner and received N2 million and a keyboard.
Second place, International School got N1.5 million and a keyboard, Barbinton Macauley third place, went with N1 million and a keyboard, while Birrel Avenue School fourth place winner went home with N500,000, CMS Grammar School came fifth went with 250,000, and sixth place winner CMS Girls Senior Grammar school, Bariga , while the sixth position went home with N100,000 respectively.
Soloists received N 150,000 each as consultation prices, Consolation prizes were also given to other contestants, totalling cash of 6.2million.
The beneficiaries appreciated God for Dr Daniel and Dr (Mrs) Folashade Olukoya for their kind gesture.
Head of Halifield Schools, Mrs Frances Osuchukwu, thanked the Olukoyas for the gesture, “This victory will inspire our students and other youths to strive for excellence, build their confidence, develop their critical thinking skills, and keep them away from the vices of society,” she said.
“Dr. Daniel and Pastor Mrs. Olukoya’s kind gesture of giving our school N2 million and a keyboard is commendable.”
One of the Soloist who received scholarship, Miss Joanna Phillips thanked God for using Dr.Daniel and Dr. Mrs Folashade Olukoya for securing her tertiary education with the payment of her tution fee. Other soloists Emmanuel Ebube (Voice), Ojelabi Feyikunmi (Voice), Humphrey David (Voice), Nwachukwu Priscillia (voice) .
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Special Assistant on Christian Religion Affairs, Rev. Bukola Adeleke, commended Dr. Daniel and Dr. Mrs Folashade Olukoya for their, “unwavering commitment to youth development and the promotion of excellence through music education.”
Sanwo-Olu urged others, politicians, members of the public and everyone to emulate Dr Daniel and Dr. Mrs Folashade Elizabeth Olukoya, for a better society.
