The “Made in Nigeria Project” in Taraba State has shortlisted 12 technology professionals to drive the first phase of the Taraba Digital Registry Project following the completion of its volunteer recruitment process.
The state coordinator of the project, Hon. Justin Tyopuusu, disclosed this in a statement he issued to reporters in Jalingo, the state capital.
He explained that 43 applications were received from technology experts interested in supporting the initiative, adding that after a rigorous and transparent screening process, successful volunteers emerged.
Tyopuusu said they would be assigned specialised responsibilities as the project is implemented in phases.
He said the project has received technical support from Leonardo LLC, a United States-based technology company, headed by its chief executive officer, Wannapat Rojwanichakorn, of Thailand.
The coordinator said discussions were at an advanced stage for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the Leonado LLC to establish a comprehensive digital platform to showcase Made-in Taraba products, businesses and investment opportunities to national and international markets.
He explained that the partnership was facilitated by Joseph Samson, a Taraba indigene and technology expert with Leonado LLC, who brokered the collaboration at no cost to the state government.
Hon. Tyopuusu then commended Samson for his patriotism and commitment to the development of Taraba, saying the initiative demonstrates the critical role that members of the diaspora can play in attracting innovation, investment, and sustainable development to their home state.
The State Coordinator also praised Governor Agbu Kefas for providing the leadership needed to transform the state into a competitive economic hub, through policies that support entrepreneurship, innovation and industrial development.
He said the governor’s commitment to economic diversification and private-sector development would enable local entrepreneurs to access wider markets, creating more job opportunities and wealth.
“The Taraba Digital Registry will provide local businesses with unprecedented visibility, allowing them to showcase their products and services across Nigeria and internationally.
‘It is a strategic step towards building a globally competitive economy for Taraba State,” Tyopuusu stated.
He added that, when completed, the registry would rank among the first of its kind in Nigeria, connecting producers, investors, buyers, and development partners while promoting the identity and competitiveness of Taraba-made products.
Tyopuusu also encouraged applicants who were not shortlisted to remain committed and assured them that additional opportunities would be available as subsequent phases of the project commence.
The Made in Nigeria Project reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Taraba State Government, development partners and the private sector to ensure the successful implementation of the Taraba Digital Registry and to strengthen the state’s position as a destination for investment, innovation and enterprise development.
