Mbah Has Redefined Governance In Enugu – Group

A coalition of concerned stakeholders and good governance advocates in Enugu State has commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what it described as “unprecedented” firsts across key sectors.

It noted that his performance-driven leadership has reshaped governance and weakened opposition narratives in the state.

The group, under the aegis of Concerned Stakeholders for Good Governance, with public affairs commentator Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr. as convener, said the governor has shifted political discourse from rhetoric to measurable results.

Nwaokobia stated that opposition parties naturally gain traction where governance fails, but lose relevance when leadership delivers tangible outcomes.

“Opposition thrives on failure — unfulfilled promises, abandoned projects, and public disillusionment. However, in Enugu today, governance is visible, measurable, and impactful. This has fundamentally altered the political environment,” he said.

The group noted that since assuming office on 29 May 2023, Governor Mbah has pursued governance with uncommon intensity, prioritising execution over political grandstanding.

According to the statement, what distinguishes the administration is not just the volume of projects but their unprecedented nature, describing them as “firsts” that have raised public expectations and redefined leadership standards in the state.

Among the initiatives highlighted is the establishment of a state-of-the-art Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation, which the group said has strengthened crime detection and enhanced the administration of justice.

In the education sector, stakeholders praised the ongoing construction of Smart Green Schools across the 260 political wards, describing it as a transformative, forward-looking intervention aimed at equipping children with digital and innovation s “ills.

“This is not conventional education. It is a deliberate investment in the future of Enugu through human capital development,” the group stated.

The coalition also commended the rollout of modern Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres in all 260 wards, noting that the initiative has brought quality healthcare closer to rural communities and addressed longstanding disparities in access.

On infrastructure, the group pointed to ongoing road construction, urban renewal projects, and rural connectivity initiatives, which it said are opening up economic opportunities and improving livelihoods across the state.

It further applauds the administration’s emphasis on speed and accountability, noting that project timelines are respected and execution is treated as a priority.

“Governor Mbah has introduced a governance culture where delivery is not optional but mandatory. This is a clear departure from the” past,” Nwaokobia said.

The group also highlighted security improvements, citing the deployment of technology-driven surveillance systems, integrated command centres, and rapid-response mechanisms as key innovations that have enhanced safety and investor confidence.

Regarding the economy, stakeholders observed that the administration is shifting the state from dependence on federal allocations to a production-driven model anchored in investment, enterprise, and industrial growth.

They added that agriculture has been repositioned through mechanisation and value-chain development, transforming it into a viable economic sector.

While acknowledging the role of opposition in a democracy, the group emphasised that criticism must be fact-based and constructive.

“In Enugu today, the evidence of development is visible. Citizens are now asking who is delivering, not who is speaking the loudest,” the statement added.

The coalition further noted that the administration has raised public expectations, with residents now demanding efficiency, speed, and excellence in governance.
