Insurgency: Adamawa Relocates 12 NECO Centres For Students’ Safety

Adamawa State government has relocated 12 National Examination Council (NECO) centres to safer locations following heightened security concerns.

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Umar, said the decision was prompted by the recent abduction of students and teachers in neighbouring Borno State on 29th June, 2026, which has raised concerns over the safety of students, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and NECO officials.

The permanent secretary explained that the relocation is a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives of candidates and examination personnel while ensuring the smooth conduct of the ongoing NECO examinations.

She stressed that the decision was taken in the best interest of the state and the safety of its students and teachers, adding that the relocation would remain in effect until the security situation improves.

Government Secondary School Maki – Government Day Secondary School Gashala, Hong Local Government Area.

The ministry appealed to the Management of all affected schools, members of the public, and NECO officials to fully cooperate with the directive.

It also urged school authorities and community leaders to ensure strict compliance with the relocation order with immediate effect.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students and ensuring that academic activities continue in a safe and secure environment.
