The state’s commissioner of police, CP Abdu Umar, disclosed this in Maiduguri while narrating the achievements recorded by the command during the year under review.

He said most obvious challenges faced in the state are the activities of Boko Haram terrorists, kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, culpable homicide, drugs dealings among others, noting that all these challenges are not insurmountable by the command.

He said the challenges were tackled due to the review of the command’s operational strategies and acquisition of new specialised operational assets.

“Although the command has been showcasing its achievement to the public from time to time, below is the yearly review of the total achievement recorded.

Others according to the police commissioner are cases involving twelve suspects from the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) , and two suspects from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for inciting disturbance, threatening persons with violence during  political campaign, unlawful possession of  weapons at a political rally, inciting others in a disorderly manner, causing hurt and mischief.

He added that all the cases have been charged to court. Abdu used the medium to call on the political actors to play by the rule of the game, warning that the command is always on its toe to ensure the arrest and prosecution of deviants as the 2023 election is fast approaching.
