Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Killing Of Retired Pilot Father In Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command attached to the Rumupakani Police Division have arrested a man in his mid-30s for allegedly stabbing his father, Captain David Nwoke, a retired pilot, to death.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning at Oro Ekpo Estate, Rumueprikom, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Sources said the suspect allegedly attacked his father with a knife during an altercation at their residence, inflicting fatal injuries on the retired pilot before fleeing the scene.

Police operatives from the Rumupakani Division were alerted to the incident and swiftly moved to the area, where the suspect was later apprehended. The victim was confirmed dead, while the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.

The incident has thrown residents of the estate into shock, with neighbours describing the deceased as a respected retired pilot.

The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the motive behind the alleged killing.

The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
