Police Give N20.7m To Families Of 11 Deceased Personnel

The commissioner of police in Niger State,   Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, has presented cheques for N20.7m to 11 families of police personnel who died in service.

He said during the presentation yesterday that the money was given on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

The commissioner said the personnel died in active service in the command in 2021/2022.

The presentation of the cheques which took place at the state police headquarters, Dutsen-Kura Minna evoked emotions among families of the deceased.

The amount was from proceeds of the Group Life Assurance Scheme of the service as a welfare gesture initiated by the inspector general towards improving the lives and capacities of families left behind by the fallen officers.

The commissioner appreciated the IGP for the initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds.

The family members expressed appreciation  to the IGP, the government and the commissioner of police for their efforts in ensuring better care for  bereaved families.
