The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has warned that there is likely to be 18 million “dead votes” during the 2023 general election, especially in the presidential poll.

A criminologist and board chairman of Intersociety, a non-governmental organisation, Emeka Umeagbalasi, disclosed this during the Christmas Day global media conference and media presentation of a 27-page Special Investigative Report On Nigeria’s INEC by Intersociety and partners.

He said the aim of the report was to expose illegalities and sundry scientific rigging plots ahead of the February 25, presidential election.

Umeagbalasi said the dead votes will be drawn from registered underage children, migrants, fake and stolen identities, among others.

He warned that if drastic measures were not taken to scuttle the alleged horrendous rigging plot, the projected 18 million dead votes will swallow the expected 14 million living votes.

The Intersociety boss said from their findings, 10 million PVCs holders have already compromised their consciences and are incapable of voting conscientiously for the presidential candidate of their choice in 2023.

He alleged that their findings indicated that the voters’ list is still polluted with millions of ineligible identities.

Umeagbalasi urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to permit eligible voters to continue to collect their PVCs till a day before the elections.

He berated   those shouting “No election in Biafra Land ”, saying the issue has been politicised and commercialised and insisted that the intention of the purveyors of the slogan is to  instill fear in the people not to vote according to their consciences.
