No fewer than 200 farmers in Kaduna State are to benefit from the distribution of fertiliser under an agricultural support initiative of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), aimed at boosting food production during the current farming season.
The intervention, flagged off in Kaduna on Monday, is part of a North-West regional programme covering the seven states in the zone.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Dr. Baffa Baba Danagundi, said the programme was the third empowerment initiative organised for members of the support group in the region, following earlier interventions targeting women and youths through skills acquisition and other empowerment schemes.
He explained that the fertiliser would be distributed to members actively engaged in farming to ensure it is used for cultivation rather than resale.
“The objective is to support farmers to increase food production. Beneficiaries are expected to use the fertiliser on their farms and not sell it,” he said.
According to him, the initiative was facilitated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity.
He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State Government for supporting the initiative.
Kaduna State Coordinator of APC Ciki Da Waje, Musa Bawa, said the intervention was one of several programmes aimed at supporting members of the group, adding that beneficiaries had previously received various empowerment packages.
Bawa said the group had also established mobilisation structures across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas in preparation for the 2027 general elections and expressed confidence in the APC’s chances based on what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu and Uba Sani administrations.
