The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev. William Uzochukwu Okoye, describing him as a devoted servant of God whose life was marked by selfless service to both the Church and the nation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, extended the condolences of the association’s National Executive Committee and the entire Christian community in Nigeria to the late cleric’s widow, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship Mission, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and all those grieving his passing.

Okoh said Rev. Okoye dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity through faithful preaching of the Gospel, mentoring Christian leaders, and promoting unity within the Church.

According to him, the late cleric’s influence extended beyond his ministry as he held several strategic leadership positions, including Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), FCT Chapter, and later CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.

He noted that in those capacities, Rev. Okoye made significant contributions to strengthening the Christian faith in Nigeria while promoting constructive engagement on issues affecting both the Church and society.

The CAN President also highlighted the deceased’s contributions to national development through his appointments as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference, and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.

He further recalled that Rev. Okoye served as Chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, describing those roles as a reflection of his commitment to nation-building and his belief that faith should positively influence society.

“I remember Rev. Okoye as a humble servant of God who carried every responsibility entrusted to him with wisdom, grace, and unwavering dedication.

“He was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always willing to lend his voice and experience whenever called upon. His counsel, calm disposition, and passion for advancing God’s Kingdom will be greatly missed,” Okoh said.

While mourning the respected cleric, the CAN President thanked God for what he described as a life well spent in His service, praying for divine comfort for the bereaved family, the All Christians Fellowship Mission, and all who were affected by the loss.

He prayed that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss and uphold them with His unfailing grace, adding, “May the soul of Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye rest in the eternal peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
