Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving dual mandate status for the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, describing the decision as a significant milestone for teacher education and higher learning in Nigeria.

Governor Fintiri gave the commendation while receiving the Governing Council of the institution, led by its Chairman, Engr. Sa’id Olajide Johnson, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Yola.

The governor, who received the delegation alongside the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, and the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, described the approval empowering the college to award both the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and bachelor’s degrees as a landmark achievement for the institution.

He said the development reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s education sector and commended President Tinubu for granting the approval, as well as the Minister of Education for facilitating the process.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Federal College of Education, Yola, to further enhance educational development in Adamawa State and contribute to the advancement of higher education in Nigeria.

Johnson also praised Governor Fintiri’s developmental strides across Adamawa State and expressed confidence that the newly approved dual mandate status would strengthen the college’s academic profile, expand access to higher education, and produce more qualified teachers and graduates for national development.

Also speaking, the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Yola, Dr. Muhammad Usman Degereji, commended Governor Fintiri for his unwavering support to the institution since assuming office, describing the state government’s interventions as instrumental to the college’s growth, infrastructural development, and academic progress.
