The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, illicit drugs and other dangerous items during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III, targeted notorious black spots, including Boolar and Super Ile-Epo, in the early hours of Sunday as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across Lagos.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the raid followed credible intelligence and involved a joint team of operatives drawn from various formations of the command.

According to Adebisi, the operation, which commenced at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising residents in the affected communities.

She said, “During the operation, a total of one hundred and forty-seven (147) suspects were arrested. Exhibits recovered include 250 expanded cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one scissors, assorted charms, 22 machetes and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.”

Meanwhile, all the suspects were in police custody while investigations were ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities.

“Those found to have committed criminal offences will be prosecuted accordingly,” the Image-maker said.

Commending the operatives for what he described as their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s resolve to sustain the anti-crime operation across the state.

According to him, “The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to the continued implementation of Operation KO S’AYE. The operation will be sustained across the State to deny criminals any safe haven and ensure the safety and security of all residents.”

The police commissioner also appealed to residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist in identifying criminal hideouts and apprehending offenders.

He said, “Members of the public should continue providing timely and credible information that will assist the Police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders, and enhancing public safety across Lagos State.”

The command urged residents to contact the police through its designated emergency lines whenever they have information capable of preventing crime or leading to the arrest of criminal suspects.
