Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election, insisting that the President’s record in office far surpasses those of other potential presidential contenders ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Tuesday, Sule described the difference between Tinubu and his rivals as “like day and night,” citing what he called the President’s performance, courage and vision over the last three years.

The governor made the remarks while responding to a question on why Nigerians should support a Tinubu-Shettima ticket over possible opposition alliances, including a Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket or an Atiku Abubakar-Rotimi Amaechi ticket.

“It’s like day and night. You cannot even compare,” Sule said.

“If you look at the records of this president, if you look at the courage of this president, if you look at the performance of this president, if you look at the foresight, if you look at what has happened in the last three years, none of these people you have called have not held a position before.

“Now take that record, try to compare it with the records that I’ve just told you in the last three years. It’s like day and night. You can’t compare.”

Pressed further to state specific reasons Nigerians should vote for Tinubu, the governor reiterated that the President’s achievements in office distinguished him from other aspirants.

“I told you, performance, courage, vision of this president,” he said.

Sule argued that while critics often point to insecurity as a major challenge under the Tinubu administration, the problem predates the current government and has witnessed measurable improvements.

“I know what you are going to throw out—insecurity—as if insecurity started in three years,” he said.

“But if you look at his performance, even in the area of insecurity, and I’m happy I sat down here when you were discussing with General Musa, and General Musa told you that even security, there is great improvement.”

The governor also pointed to infrastructure development, education reforms and economic indicators as evidence of the administration’s achievements.

According to him, the scale of infrastructure projects being undertaken across the country is unprecedented.

“You don’t look at all the infrastructure that is happening in this country and say it ever happened. It’s a dream.

“A lot of people will tell you that it’s a dream. We never thought it would happen,” he said.

Sule further highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a major intervention in the education sector.

“If you look at some of the foresight, today people in the area of education, look at what NELFUND is doing today,” he said.

On the economy, the governor said the capital market had recorded remarkable growth under the Tinubu administration.

“Look at the capital market that has grown ten times today. That has never happened.

“So it depends on that, that’s why I say you cannot even compare,” Sule added.
