Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, has relieved six commissioners of their appointments.

Governor Sule, who announced the decision during the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia, said the action was a strategic move to reposition his administration ahead of upcoming political activities and to strengthen service delivery.

Governor Sule had earlier dismissed speculations of a total dissolution.

“Because of what we have been working on recently, I know that there had been a lot of tension, a lot of wrong information out there that we intend to dissolve the council today. We are not dissolving the council today – let me make that categorically clear,” Sule said.

“What we do intend to do as usual is that there would be a couple of reshuffling here and there in order to strengthen our preparation towards most of the work that we intend to do and towards the elections that is ahead of us,” he added.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, said those affected are Dr. Tanko Ibrahim of Information, Culture and Tourism; Muazu Adamu Gosho, Works, Housing and Transport; David Moyi, Lands; Usman Baba, Security and Sundry Matters; Barr. Hauwa Samuel Jugbo, Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services; and Gabriel Agbashi, Science and Technology.

Magaji said the reshuffle takes immediate effect and directed the outgoing commissioners to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries.

He explained that the exercise was aimed at injecting new blood into the administration and creating opportunities for others to serve, adding that the outgoing members would be considered for other roles moving forward while replacements would be announced in due course.
