The Renewed Hope Neighbour to Neighbour Initiative has congratulated First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the conferment of an Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Degree in Education by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

The honour was conferred during the university’s convocation ceremony on Saturday in recognition of the First Lady’s contributions to education, women empowerment, humanitarian service and national development.

In a statement signed by its national coordinator, Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, the group described the award as a deserving recognition of Senator Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through education, empowerment and social intervention programmes.

According to the statement, the honorary doctorate reflects the First Lady’s dedication to advancing education and promoting inclusive national development.

“This well-deserved honour is a powerful testament to your remarkable service to humanity and your enduring commitment to building a better future for Nigerians through education, empowerment and compassion,” the statement read.

The group noted that through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Tinubu has implemented programmes in education, healthcare, agriculture, economic empowerment and social investment across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

It added that the initiative has supported women through business grants, vocational training, digital skills acquisition and agricultural interventions, while also promoting scholarships, maternal and child healthcare, relief support for vulnerable persons and assistance to communities affected by disasters.

According to the group, the South-East has benefited from several of the First Lady’s interventions, including women and youth empowerment programmes, educational support, healthcare campaigns, food distribution and skills acquisition initiatives.

The group said the UNN honorary doctorate further underscores the growing recognition of the First Lady’s humanitarian efforts and contributions to human capital development.

It expressed confidence that the award would inspire her to sustain initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians, particularly women, children and other vulnerable groups.
